I Must Betray You is a powerful and huanting story that we all actually finished this book within two days of starting it together as a group! Ruta Sepetys is an absolutely amazing storyteller! The character building in this book is fabulous! They are complex and real. You can feel their fear, strength and their courage! Cristian character really comes to life. It's intense, tragic and beautiful all in one. We didn't know much about this time period and we really enjoyed learning about it. The heartbreaking conditions and things that happened broke our hearts and their strength and courage put it back together! The author did an amazing job shining a little on such a dark period in history. It's a fast paced read that will grip you until the very last page!
