Ruta Sepetys has a wonderful way of writing historical fiction for the present day readers. Her stories are always so lyrical and this is no exception. I find myself completely unawares of the time and setting of Romania, but no less compelled and wanting to find out more. Sepetys really ignites curiosity, while engaging the reader in the story from the get go.
