I don't know anything about Romania... I doubt I would even be able to point it out accurately on a map (I just Googled it so that I would not have to make that admission again). So reading about Romania in the late 1980s in this historical fiction is fascinating. This book has opened a new world to me, and I'm interested in learning more about how the author will continue to portray this time and place in history.
