I feel like I've learned so much about Romania in the 1980s just in the 50 pages that I was able to read. I've never read a Ruta Sepetys book before, but it is very obvious how knowledgeable she is about the subject she is writing on. The one issue I had was that it felt very show, not tell at times. I think some of the information feels like it is being forced, and isn't entering the story in a natural way. But, again, I've never read a Ruta Sepetys book before, so this could easily just be her style of writing.
