Short sentences makes it feel urgent and dramatic
Even though the story is historical fiction, I think a lot of the drama and descriptions are based on true events so I was very invested. This is a part of history I am not very familiar with and I would like to read on and find out more about it.
The story is written in very short sentences which makes it feel urgent and dramatic. It makes sense since the protagonist is secretly writing stuff in his journal and everything is censored. There are still a lot of descriptions of the setting which makes reading the story very vivid.
