The first introduction I had to Ruta Sepetys' writing was Salt of the Sea, an absolutely brilliant novel that I couldn't put down. I Must Betray You seems to be more of the same, addictive writing and I'm eager to read more!

The story is told through the eyes of Cristian Florescu, a seventeen-year-old boy living under the rule of the dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. Cristian wants to be a writer, he wants to make his dreams come true but that's impossible when Nicolae is in power.

Instead of allowing the tyranny to continue without trying to do something about it, Cristian decides to join the revolution. It's time for Romania to have freedom, but is Cristian willing to pay the cost?
