In typical Ruta Sepetys fashion, I Must Betray You immediately pulled me in. I could see, feel, and smell 1980s Romania: the grayness, the fear, the suspicious shadows and wandering eyes. The characters are believable and the details already appaling. If it were another author I would feel the need to look up the information to make sure it's correct but I know Ruta Sepetys meticulously researches her novels. The pace of the novel is perfect for a suspense. It kept me scrolling and scrolling. I can't wait to read the rest!
