Writing young adult historical fiction isn’t easy. A lot of the time there is no emotion, and author feel like they have to dumb it down. But Sepetys writes history from a YA perspective, instead of pretending like teens done know what’s going on. I already have fallen in love with the characters. It’s so refreshing to read HF that’s not WWII!!
