Wow! Sepetys does it again.

I was instantly sucked into Florescu's story from just the first 37 pages. Historical fiction has always been a favorite genre of mine, and Sepetys always finds a way to create a novel that is packed full of emotional syntax paired with well-researched history. I was not aware of the horrors that Romanian citizens faced under the tyrannical dictatorship of Nicolae Ceauşescu. As a long-time fan of Sepetys, I can confidently say that I am invested in this story already and cannot wait to learn more about the rebellion and voices that erupted from the Romanian citizens.

As for the cover, I think it is beautiful. The color contrast of the Romanian flag with the grey, dreary background makes me assume that the cover artist was trying to show the strength, perseverance, and unity of the Romanian citizens as they fight against the horrific ruler.
