A thrilling and suspenseful historical telling from the very first line!

Ruta Sepetys always writes a book that I am unable to put down, and from this excerpt I know I will love this as much as I loved Salt to the Sea. This historical thriller has readers eager to keep reading from the very title. It sets up what is sure to be an intriguing novel that will have everybody on the edge of their seats. Her writing style is one of my favorite to read because of the suspense in every single line that elevates it from just any other historical fiction book. As communism spreads throughout Romania, Cristian struggles to fight the darkness raging through the country as he is being constantly watched. I can't wait to see how this ends, and be able to read more of Cristian's fight to make a decision that will have disastrous consequences either way he chooses.
