So Far Okay
From the excerpt provided, it seems very similar in quality to Holly Jackson's books. A little tackier perhaps, but overall I had trouble telling the two authors apart. The main characters had similar narrative voices, and both books have jarring moments where it becomes incredibly political, though Jackson is a lot better at handling these topics.
The character introductions were not particularly well done. Felt like we literally snapped out of the story into a character profile, then snapped back in. Lots of current slang thrown in, especially in character introduction/descriptions which already feel dated. Author needs to stop referencing famous figures; she seems incapable of describing someone's appearance without them, which speaks volumes about her writing skills.
Main character is very retro, for a lack of a better word. Bit of a pick me, though not in the purest sense. Think Tall Girl - her and her sister match that vibe exactly.
Overall entertaining enough for what it is.
