Man, was this a fun read. Did I guess the killer about halfway through? Absolutely. Did I love the journey of watching Alice figure it out? Of course! And I loved that twist ending - what a way to take an expected plot device and flip it on its head!
The callbacks to classic and unknown-to-me horror movies was great; the Final Girl trope is such a classic and one of my favorites in horror stories. The writing in this was outstanding - I really felt the tension and creepiness and as evidenced by the title of this review, flew through this book in 3 days.
Even though I guessed the killer pretty early on, there were enough red herrings throughout the book to make me second guess myself.
This book really makes you think about what you'd be willing to sacrifice to save a loved one and how far you're willing to go to undue a past mistake. I haven't read anything else by this author before but I will certainly be checking out some of her other works!
