This book was darkly humorous, campy, and a love song to slasher flicks. The characters talk like their age and there is a tone of relatability to the sentences. Chloe's inner monologue is charming, I really liked the first impression of Mark and these characters do feel like just kids bound to get into situations out of their depth. Also the pacing of a back and forth narrative is genius, the first chapter has a great hook of Chloe's murder and going back three hours of that night introduces an interesting approach to the timeline. The narrative has the starting of interesting commentary on the true crime and horror genres and could work with interesting themes. Alice is relatable and the diversity and self-awareness of her friend group is refreshing and really tonally speaks to the book's inspirations. The imagery of Alice finding Chloe was epic and a true homage, it was disturbing and chilling- the red herring I am sure exists with Owen Trevor Maddox and that chapter ending, I have to know what happens next! I really look forward to getting to the bottom of the motivations and complexities that Alice was not privy to and seeing the twists the plot takes us toward.

The cover has a lot of flair, it sets the tone for this thriller and reminds me tonally of scream queens and MTV's Scream. I loved the page detailing with the splatters of blood along the edges. This seems like an addicting read.
