In this excerpt we meet Alice, a young horror fan who avoids risks, some of her friends, and her sister, Claire. On Halloween they all meet at a Texas Chainsaw-themed party, and Claire is murdered.
I'm not a fan of the horror genre, but from what I can tell this book makes it worthwhile. The writing is excellent, the plot, intriguing. However, it did feel like the author was trying too hard to make it relevant, with unnecessary references to certain places or topics.
