I really like that the chapters include a momentous countdown to whatever big thing is going to happen. Keeps the pace rolling at a high speed and makes the suspense more effective. The writing style is quick and engaging though it’s worth disclosing that this writing is filled; and perhaps too close to the brim, with slang and pop culture references that will probably date it in a few years. Thankfully I understood all of them and I think most YA readers will. The violence level isn’t extreme and remains pretty tasteful despite the premise. I enjoyed each page but don’t yet have a greater understanding of the story and what might happen. That said, I’m definitely curious to continue.
