I am a huge fan of scary books, horror movies, and slasher stories. That makes me sound horribly creepy, but I like to be scared and creeped out. My only problem is that I struggle with books. They never really seem to creep me out. I was immediately drawn to this book by the synopsis, it definitely hit my radar. The concept that it's a little like Happy Deathday adds a more lighthearted appeal, but once I started reading the first glance, I don't get the satirical feel I got from that movie.

I love Alice and her nerdy friends. As characters, their fascination with horror - movies and true crime have set them up to handle the murder of Alice's sister with a little more believability. I love the references to the different classic horror movies.

The style is very much young adult which makes it more accessible to all readers. It is an easy read, but not one that is boring. Even from just the excerpt, you get the feeling of who these characters are, and it is beyond evident that Alice loves her sister.

The time jumping of the chapters is an effective addition. The timeline is going to be important for Alice to figure out what happens in the corn maze, and it sets that tone right from the beginning. I was surprised immediately. I'm eager to know if Chloe survives or if she bleeds out and is unable to tell her story. I'm eager to know how Alice gets away.

Owen is creepy.... but, I'm not sure he was is murderer (It's dark and this is a horror book)
The last words Claire speaks to Alice...

I'm intrigued and eager to finish reading this book!!
