This book was had a lot of magic in it's world and I like that a lot because this book is set in modern day Italy.
The writing style was simple but yet still good and a very fast read. I could see middle grade kids devouring this book in one setting, two days the most, once they get involved in the story.
Like I said earlier, I did like that this world is full of magic and full of magical creatures and it's like a everyday thing so it's not like a secret or hidden away from everybody. Those who don't have magic, knows that these things exist.
As far as the characters goes, I liked the relationship between the main character and her older brother. It felt real. They had that sibling banter and rivalry going on. But other than that, I found the main character really, really annoying. I felt like she didn't have any growth at all. Not even with the things she went through. She was the same through to the end and that really annoyed me.
