How to Heal a Gryphon is a coming of age story about standing up for what you want and need for your life despite what your well-intentioned loved ones may want. This story is also filled with humor, a young female heroine, awesome mythical creatures, family bonds, and a brother-sister rivalry. The vivid descriptions of the food and locations were wonderful as well, and really made me want to travel. I am a huge fan of mythological fiction, especially ones with mythological creatures too. I think that fans of both the Percy Jackson series and the Harry Potter series will really enjoy How to Heal a Gryphon. Even as an adult reader I also really enjoyed it and I look forward to there possibly being a second book. I am going to give this one to my daughter to read next because I know she'll love it as much as I did! It definitely has great appeal across all age groups.
