The main character is almost 13 year old Giada who isn't 'perfect'. She's loud, stubborn, feisty, chubby (and proud of it!), and she is pushing against the family legacy.
While taking on the mission to save her brother, she learns and teaches valuable lessons. Asking for help is necessary, words have power, and being true to yourself and your happiness should outweigh tradition.
This story was fun with great themes, and I would definitely recommend it. Even though it's middle grade, it was still an enjoyable read for me as an adult.
