Finally Some Magical Fat Girl Representation
I just want to take a second and talk about the cover. When my eyes landed on the cover and I really took in what I saw, tears began to flow down my face. For the longest time, remebering being in middle school and highschool, seeing all the covers with girls who fit the conventional beauty standard on book covers. I have never seen a cover with a Fat Girl. It may be because I went to a small school, I don't know. But ohhh my goodness. It makes me so happy to see and be able to read a book about a fat main character girl.
I never found myself bored or not interested when reading. As a middle school child, I allways found books with specks of a diffrent language quite interesting. I'd look up the terms or just feel really smart for some reason, it's like a little bonus figuring out what some of the Italian words mean. Which is pretty fun to do. So I think other middle school readers will enjoy this book as well. Not only because they get to learn a little Italian on the side, but becuase it's packed with interesting magical animals. And a main character who takes an unexpectable and fun journey!
