I wanna start off by saying I absolutely appreciate the historical research that went into this incredibly important novel! I wasn’t aware of black people being kidnapped from America and re-sold into slavery in Cuba, so that was important to learn about. When it comes to the characters, I felt some scenes were quite off. I’ve never felt deeply in love with historical novels but this novel definitely had a change in my mind. Overall, I found this book very important informative as it talks about the civil war, slavery, rebellion! I would definitely recommend this novel to my fellow readers, especially my historical geeks. In this novel, I also learned more about Cuban history throughout the years. I rated this book four out of five as it is very informative and deeply heartfelt. I did feel like some scenes were quite hard to read but overall good read!
