While this read is titled Hidden Cargo, it is all about discoveries, revelations, and findings as Lieutenant Everett Townsend embarks on his journey. Along the way, he meets many characters - some friendly and helpful but others deceptive at every turn. Through it all, Townsend has to determine who he can trust, and those decisions must be made not just with regard to strangers and new acquaintances but also with regards to families and his one true love.
At first glance, I did not believe this would be a read that would engage me. However, after diving into Part 1, I found myself hooked and interested to learn more about these characters and this story. I even found myself questioning how much truth there may or may not have been for this story in history. From start to finish, Lloyd gives us a tale that readers cannot easily turn away from.
