The first impression immediately rushed me back in time and to a new place for me. The flashbacks of the captain gave me an excellent feel for the war and the aftermath of dealing with so much loss and fear of the unknown. The ship's dangerous travels through a hurricane felt so real to me. This will be a book that feels historically accurate and will be hard to put down.
