As a very first impression, the cover reminds me of the college textbooks I've read. With two history degrees and a specialty in American history, you can imagine I've seen a few. So while it drew my interest, I'm afraid it didn't make me feel like this was fiction I could escape in. I like the setting, and the premise is ok, but the writing didn't draw me in as I hoped. It was a little...overwrought.
