For someone who does not quite enjoy current events appearing in books such as these, I kind of liked this. Max and Jonah have a bit of a grumpy-sunshine start, which I love. Max, a grocery deliverer for the elderly, meets Jonah when he complains about her hoarding toilet paper. That is when she explains to the audacious Jonah that she does grocery delivery. He tries to introduce himself and strike a bargain for one pack of her toilet paper for the entirety his shopping cart, but she swindles him and he only walks away with one roll.
Later, we find out that Jonah has a crippling anxiety disorder and that he hasn't had the courage to confront another person until he saw Max. This story is already extremely cute and quirky. The characters are loveable as they are relatable. Having gone through Covid myself, I can relate to some of their experiences and their fears. I'm going to have to check out this book from the library when I get the chance.
