I loved this book so so so much! It was cute and sweet and so very timely.
Maxine and Jonah meet in the crushing crowds of a grocery store just as California is going into lockdown. Max’s part-time job as a personal grocery shopper is keeping her out among the masses as an essential worker. Jonah’s preexisting anxiety is about to become an epic daily struggle as he balances wanting to get out of lockdown with the need to keep himself (and his immunocompromised sister) safe. As Max and Jonah get to know each other through their phone screens, socially distanced hangs, they're just trying to figure out up from down in this "new normal".
I thought that this book was absolutely adoreable and I really loved having a chance to read it. I devoured it in 24 hours and I could not put it down. A+++ work that made, me laugh and cry and feel all of the feels.
