My students are going to LOVE Chandler Baker and Wesley King's, Hello (from here)!! The fun banter between both Max and Jonah is laced with sarcasm and charm--creating that type of "attraction" tension the reader knows will lead to more. It is the first novel I've read that hints at the stresses and challenges of living in a modern day pandemic as a teen, and showcases how it is especially difficult for Jonah who has been diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder. The author's capture life during the early stages of the pandemic authentically--the toilet paper shortage, personal shoppers, communicating only through digital means, etc, and I believe adolescent readers are ready to read a fictionalized account of two trying to make sense of it all.
