I will say first that my stars rating does not come from my impression of the book alone, but also from my impression of the main event that it covers, the COVID-19 pandemic. As someone who currently works in a hospital and occasionally on COVID units, I feel that it is way too soon to explore this topic in a fictional way, much like how Jonathan Safran Foer's book "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" appeared to explore 9/11 far too quickly following the event. I do not mean to say that this topic should NOT be explored, it's just for me personally, it puts a weird taste in my mouth. That being said, the characters are solid for a YA novel, and it certainly is timely. I guess that my personal circumstances do not quite make it my cup of tea.
