Reading memoirs is always a hit or miss for me because I don't really know if I'm going to like it. On one hand I loved the classic I am Malala and I pretty much read it once a year at this point, but I didn't really love some other classic memoirs everyone seems to love. It's not that their stories aren't good or their message isn't good, because they are, it's just that I feel like some people's amazing experiences just don't translate well into books - like I'd rather listen to a speech about it or watch interviews than read it if that makes sense, then again I'm a very picky reader so that might explain a lot. As for this book I would say I thought it was generally pretty good. I liked the way the street was characterized, how important it was for the author. All the characters were introduced in a way that did justice to the plot as well. I would say if you're looking for a good heartwarming story this is the place to be.
