I don't like starting a book anywhere but from page one, chapter one. This one begins at chapter two, making it evident I'm either missing something or chapter one was insignificant.
There is a lot of backstory and telling. I'd rather it start in the thick of the story and disperse a bit of backstory here and there.
With that said, the subject matter is interesting and I feel I'd enjoy the story once I "get into it" but it takes a bit too long for my taste.
