I was really excited to read this first look because I too grew up in Greenwich Village and have seen the neighborhood change over the last 26 years. The cover itself stood out both because it was styled like Call Me By Your Name but also because the brownstones are so familiar to me. Based on the chapter we read, this reads much more like a history of Greenwich Village book than a memoir. While it will be interesting to read about the history of my home neighborhood, I wonder if it will be too dry for anyone who doesn't have an emotional tie to the area. Would likely be something I get my parents, though they know the story as good as anyone who lived in that area for 30+ years.
