I fell in love with Hudson Wheeler from the very first chapter.
There's something very refreshing about a main character in Young Adult fiction that's just a normal teenager who doesn't really have to deal with insane amounts of drama and life-changing events. It's just the everyday actions and consequences of living life, if an albeit slightly unconventional one.
Overally, I love that the characters are flawed, but so relatable.
Going Places manages to avoid the typical arc that many young adult books seem to follow. Berla captures the crossroads of a senior in high school well and explores unique relationships beyond romantic ones (the interactions with elderly characters are particularly strong)
