This is a nice come of age novel. The story is about Hudson Wheeler, a senior in high school that everyone thinks will be "going places". He decides to be homeschooled in his senior year. With a little bit of free time, he starts two business (a dog walking business and a senior helpline for situations "just below an emergency") and a personal project (writing a graphic novel). While about 2/3 of the book focuses on presenting the character, for at least half of the book you may wonder where the story is taking you to - it seems nothing is going to happen anytime soon. His obsession with Alana is so freaking annoying - you just him to stop going after her! But the final 1/3 of the story compensates for everything. What an end!
