This was an enjoyable young adult contemporary fiction story. I think that the protagonist, Hudson Wheeler, was a large part of this book's appeal. Hudson is a high school senior, and this was written from his first person perspective. His voice seemed authentic and likeable, and I believe this is what made this story work.

Hudson encounters several situations throughout the book which lead him to personal growth. However, there was never a time when it felt forced or preachy. Hudson is a good guy who is trying to figure out his path. He navigates the experiences of romantic relationships and figuring out whether his crush is the right girl for him. He starts two businesses, and through them encounters a WWII vet who becomes a pivotal person in Hudson's life. The multiple characters and plot points are woven together in an easy to read style.
