The first few chapters were well-written, but I'm not feeling at all invested in the character. I was assuming more would be made of Hud's deceased Major father.
The cover holds no appeal for me. Any teen would have no idea what the book is about.
Somewhat unrelated - are the to and from email addressed reversed in the opening chapter? I was distracted for a good two minutes thinking about them.
