I immediately liked Hudson and his drive. I feel like we really get to know him as a person, and how he's navigating the expectations and pressures put on him from a young age (the stellar letter from 5th grade). And I like that he wasn't to do homeschooling, because it's something we don't see a lot of in books. Unfortunately, I wasn't the biggest fan of the romantic introduction, and Hudson's crushing on Alana. It just seemed very superficial. but will hopefully develop more as the novel progresses.
