While this dragged at times, overall I really enjoyed it. The initial premise sucked me in, and although there wasn't quite as much scheming as I thought there would be, what with Andra pretending to be a goddess, there definitely was some scheming to keep things interesting (though this was also what dragged for me--it felt like we were retreading old ground).
What really stood out were the science fiction elements. I was interested in how the use of technology had changed over time and the culture that had grown up around it.
I also knew that there was going to be some twist coming at the end but couldn't figure out what it was, and it did take me by surprise. There were a couple things that I thought could have been drawn out at the end of the book (again, the pacing felt a little uneven), but overall this was good and I'm interested to see where the series goes!
