I'm REALLY looking forward to this one!
First, I had completely forgotten where I'd gotten the sample but I am so glad I read it. How is it not June yet? I need this one in my hot little hands.
The beginning is so disorienting, but not enough to turn off the reader... enough to pique interest. To look for clues as to what exactly is going on. Where is our protagonist, Andra? What happened to her ship? Why is she out of stasis and not where she expected to be?
I like how the author changed the language enough to demonstrate how language changed and evolves over time, which gives it a more potent feeling of "other" for Andra. It's a little odd to get the rhythm of, but it all makes sense in context.
I'm interested to find out what happens next to our Goddess in the Machine!
