Andra wakes from cryonic sleep expecting one hundred years to have passed and to find herself on a new planet along with her family and other colonists. She does not anticipate waking up in a cave in a world like she’s never seen one thousand years later. From the beginning I was completely pulled into this world and loved this story. There were so many moments that I was surprised and found myself wondering what would happen next. Beyond the plot twists I was so impressed with the world (and language) building. The amount of detail that went into creating a language that is familiar but made sense in the way it may evolve over one thousand years was fantastic.

I fell in love with Andra, Zhade and so many of the other characters in this story. Andra is understandably shocked when she finds herself thrust into this new world and discovers she’s been worshipped as a goddess while she slept. Beyond grappling with that bombshell she quickly discovers the danger and politics she’s really facing. Zhade is a complex character who I found myself cautiously loving. I found him charming, arrogant, and adored when Andra kept him on his toes. I don’t want to give anything away but I really enjoyed this book. I am going to be anxiously awaiting fro the sequel and cannot wait to find out what happens next.
