Another Wilbur Smith! I'm like the Wilbur Smith whisperer! And I didn't even get the last one, but the library had it so I got it there!

Since the characters operate in both 18th-century India under the Raj, and the American colonies (or French possessions) of North America, you definitely get some...traditional...attitudes towards other groups of people (natives) on the parts of our protagonists.

A fine read for "Prisoner Of Zenda"/Anthony Hope fans, or fans of H. Rider Haggard, although there's no fantasy here.

This would probably make a good BBC Masterpiece Theatre-type miniseries, with servants and army folk and costumes and tea services and suchlike. Maybe it could be seen as Poldarkian!
