The cover is beautiful and eye-catching. However, I wouldn't have read beyond the first three pages if I had picked this up in a store. The first few pages read as if the brother is sexualizing the sister not to mention that sexualizing what is, in essence, a child is downright gross. The book blurb alone would be enough to turn me off this book. As historical fiction, I understand the author trying to keep true to the time and place. Brutality and assault against women were (and still are?) common, but based on the blurb and the First Look, I don't feel confident the "villains" will get their comeuppance in this novel.
