This book is definitely what I would call a high-quality potboiler! With the two characters set in different time periods, the book hops back and forth between them. I couldn't always keep it straight who was involved, because they both have their struggles and they both have their sinister villains pursuing or interacting with them. But it rolls merrily along and I enjoyed the adventure.

There ends up being more of the "F" word in this than I would have liked--I think it could have gone without ever using it at all. And there's at least one sex scene, and I just find that distasteful, even if it wasn't as detailed as I guess it could have been.

But I wanted to see if our heroines could achieve victory so that carried me along.

And I thought that the use of magic was pretty original in terms of what happens and how characters interact.

The revelations towards the end with the history of angels in this mythology were pretty surprising.
