I seem to be in the supreme minority here, but I think I fell into the hype surrounding FURYBORN too much and, ultimately, it did not meet my expectations. I was forcing myself to finish the last 1/4th of the book and that made me extremely sad. FURYBORN had been on the top of everyone's Most Anticipated lists since mid-2017 and I was ecstatic to receive an ARC from Sourcebooks. The premise super intrigued me. I love fantasy, I love a good fight for the crown, I love strong female characters. And I can't quite put my finger on what rubbed me the wrong way. The writing was detailed and lush. I enjoyed the dual perspectives of Rielle and Eliana, as well as their characterization. At this point, I'm not planning to finish out the trilogy, but it's up for debate.
