I thought the writing was well done from the start. The beginning grips the reader for the very first sentence. I mean how can you not be intrigued by the opening lines describing the screams of the queen? I love a book in which the first few lines are so compelling, I simply an unable to not want to read what happens next. This is this book. I am a big fan of medieval style writing and mix in some magic, well, you have me.
A magical princess is born, a magical queen dies. A boy magical healing-time bender is tasked with the quest to hide and protest the princess from attackers. The book does jump around in time from the moment the tragedy of the death of the queen to the queen as an adolescent to the 1,000 years later grand-daughter now paid assassin. Books good.
