I think that this will be one of the lasts books about kingdoms and queens/kings that I'll read in my life. As happened to me with books about vampires-werewolves-zombies, I reached a point in which every book that I read about this stuff I have the feeling that I'm reading the same over and over and over and - exhales - over again. So, it wasn't completely the fault of this book to end so bad in this review.
On the other hand - this book isn't nothing new. If there is some character that I didn't hate, it didn't provoke any reaction in me more than indifference. That strange change between flashback-story and "present" is quite non-sense, at least for me. The flashblack story doesn't give anything to the currently story, anything more than to "know" the villian - but that is something that the author can do in the second book (which nor even dead I'll read). The writing isn't nothing special too - it never goes deeper than to explain actions and superface feelings.
So, no. It didn't convice me nor a bit. The only thing that I felt while I was reading this book was how much time I was wasting with it when there are a lot of books that really worth it waiting for me.
