This book made me love fantasy again. I loved both perspectives and thought the storyline was very original. The side characters were great as well, especially Ludivine. Both perspectives had a unique voice and it was easy to tell whose story you were reading which I appreciated. Also, each chapter left at a cliff-hanger so I never wanted to stop reading. By the end of the story, I didn't see the twists and turns coming and did not guess the plotline easily. I can't wait to read book 2! Claire Legrand is a very good writer. The prose was straightforward and easy to read. It was good writing without being over the top flowery prose like in some fantasy novels, which is usually the main thing that turns me off. I really liked this book.
