I found the beginning of this to be quite fast paced and hard going as it seemed like a lot was trying to be said in a short amount of time but once I got my head around it I have to say I love the ideas! A boy with angel blood chosen to protect a now dead? morally grey queen’s child - amazing. I love how the idea of angels and magic have been put into this book and I love the writing style - it’s descriptive but succinct without being boring or not having enough information - perfect for this kind of fantasy book in my opinion. The main reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 though was, like I said before, because of how much information was being crammed into the first few pages - there was a birth, two deaths (I think) and someone ran away with a baby and while I love that it’s all happened in the story I just think it’s too much for such a small amount of pages!
