I gave this book a 4/5 stars. I had a lot of trouble in the beginning putting the book down and not wanting to pick it back up. I kept mixing up the different story lines because I felt the settings, tech, and wardrobe were so similar that it was hard to tell Rielle's and Eliana's eras apart. I also was so confused by the first chapter and the action that started the book that I was immediately put off. I did not know any of these characters or what was happening so the action that took place in the first chapter made no sense whatsoever. BUT.....after I got past about 100 pages I was hooked. I was able to start distinguishing Rielle from Eliana and their connections started to become more clear. I had a hard time understanding Rielle's magic system at first but as the trial went on it became something I could picture in my head. In the end, I really enjoyed this book.
