Entertaining, But Moderately Forgettable
Furyborn is the first book in the Empirium trilogy. It alternates between the perspectives of two fierce and strong women in different timelines — Rielle and Eliana — who both struggle to save their world.
This book was really good, and I enjoyed all of the characters and the story...while I was reading it. However, now that I have finished, I struggle to remember what it was all about. The characters were sadly not that memorable and fell a little flat. I get it’s YA, but it felt a little forced and contrived.
I did like the alternating perspectives as it switched between Rielle and Eliana every other chapter. Each chapter left on at least a slight cliff-hanger, which made me want to keep reading.
If I keep on with the series (which I most likely will since I did enjoy this first book), I will definitely need to reread this book first.
