An exciting idea with lots of potentials, this snippet supplies a great first look into what seems to be a very complex and well thought out world. The novel jumps right into the action and holds up its promise of a 'furyborn' within the first few paragraphs, effectively drawing in the reader. The initial introduction to the world comes from the perspective of a child, whose voice can be irritating at times, but is still able to keep pace with the intrigue of the events he accounts and witnesses. The narrator switches to the two protagonists shortly after, whose unique voices provide a good contrast as the story and its cast of characters are set up. At this point, it seems like an interesting story!
